Biography

DJ "MARACAS"   I'm DJ "Maracas" Diaz, and I've been in the business since the late 70's, getting my start in Honolulu, HI.  I worked in numerous clubs in Hawaii until the mid 80's, when I moved to the State of Washington.  In 1985 I spent the summer traveling through Canada working as an entertainment consultant.  Together with club owners and managers, I reviewed the nightclubs' operations and made recommendations regarding the lighting, sound systems, music selection and formatting, as well as coordinating promotional events and disc jockey training.  Most recently I have been hitting it big in the Latin scene, playing in nightclubs and doing big shows all over the State of Washington.  People keep coming back for more and loyal fans have been enthusiastic and complimentary.   I've also made a name for myself doing weddings and private parties. Beso del Sol/Dj Maracas Reprinted from Seattle Times Barbara Serrano ........Beso Del Sol in Wallingford turns out to be a nice little slice of Mexico. The nightclub/restaurant was filled with people dancing to everything from Tito Puente to cumbias and Mexican Pop. I felt like I was home again..........Thankfully, there were just enough people on the dance floor to disguise the fact that we're pretty average dancers.......Even  DJ MARACAS became part of the show. As he sat up high above, with his control board on a platform above the dance floor, we could watch him move with the music and sing into a microphone.
I have been hitting it big in the Latin Scene, playing in nightclubs and doing big shows all over the State of Washington.  In addition to my Disc Jockey experience, I have coordinated special events such as: Lip Sync Contests, Bikini Contests, Talent Shows and Fashion Shows.
